Filing of ITR-1

You can file this ITR Form in two ways. You can either enter the details in this ITR Form Manually and then submit the return online or you can upload the XML File using the offline methods.

Online Submission of ITR-1 Form

You are required to submit this form on the Income Tax Department’s official website, you will have to keep your user ID, password and date of birth ready for this process. You will also be asked to enter a captcha code for the same. When you login to the website click on the “Filing of Income Tax Return” option.

Then you will have to select the ITR form name, choose the relevant assessment year as well as the submission mode. After which you are required to prepare and submit it on the website itself.

After this step you will have to fill your remaining details and hit on the submit button to complete the process.

Know how to Upload the XML

Log on to the Income Tax Department’s official website and go to the homepage. Then click on the “Offline Utilities” option. You will find an option that says “Income Tax Return Preparation Utilities”. Choose the relevant Assessment Year for which you are filing the income tax return. Download the offline utility either in Excel or Java format. Then prepare the income tax return form offline by filing the relevant details, save it and extract XML files. Then you are supposed to go online again, click on the “Filing of Income Tax Return” option and submit the XML files. After this process you will have to E-verify your return within 120 days of submitting it to complete the E-filing process.
